Despite traditionally being the most covert military branch, Special Operations Forces (SOF) often attract disproportionate attention due to their elite status and high-risk missions. Historically, only a few operations—such as Operation Nimrod, Entebbe, and Neptune Spear—were widely known. The War in Ukraine has transformed that narrative, producing dozens of high-profile examples of SOF in action, showcasing Ukraine’s unparalleled experience in modern warfare, diverse SOF structure, and one of the largest Special Operations communities in the world.
