In the unaired pilot "Space Apeman Gori vs. Spectreman" (1971), the villainous alien Gori arrives on Earth, planning to conquer it by using pollution to create monstrous creatures. To counter this threat, the benevolent Nebula 71 Star sends Spectreman, a powerful cyborg hero, who disguises himself as a human named George. Spectreman battles Gori's creations to protect humanity and the planet from destruction.
Spectreman was sent to Earth to save humanity from destruction caused by pollution, but during his first mission, he encounters a giant monster that emerged from the waters of Tokyo Bay. In reality, the creature was the work of two aliens: the simian Gori—whose intelligence surpassed that of any human being—and their assistant, Karas, who intended to take over Earth by eliminating humanity.
After shooting the android out of the sky, Gori sends Karras to recover it. The media reports that a flying man was seen attacking the monster and names him Spectreman. Gori discovers that Spectreman was sent by Nebulon 71 to protect Earth.
Dr. Gori sends down a creature as a diversionary tactic, whilst he builds a base for his invasion.
Gori instructs Karras (Rah) to find Spectreman in his human form.
Gori steals a gorilla from a zoo, turns him into a soldier and sends him back to Earth to find candidates to turn into pollution people.
Spectreman refuses to carry out the Overlords' order to kill the polluted family and instead isolates them.
When Tokyo's smog suddenly disappears, George (Spectreman) suspects that Dr. Gori is responsible.
Spectreman refuses to fight Gokinosaurus instead of rescuing Rita, so the Overlord terminates his mission and removes his powers.
The team investigate another report of pollution, and find the aftermath of a monster attack. And a two-headed rat.
Overlord reactivates Spectreman so that he finish off Dr. Gori's giant rat.
Karras abducts a dustman, and Dr. Gori turns him into a monster.
The Dustman tells Spectreman he doesn't want go on living that way, and asks him to destroy him. When he refuses, he jumps into the sea and dissolves, leaving only his hand.
