舞台となるのは、経営危機にひんした市立病院のある郊外の街。この病院に院長代理として現れたのは、経営を重視する合理主義的な医者・紙子良。一方、同じ街の所轄署には組織に忖度しないベテラン刑事・弓削文平がいた。相いれるはずのなかった医者と刑事。だがこの平和な街で、二人を結びつける凶悪な犯罪が頻発する。それらの事件は地域医療の破綻と再生に密接に結びついているのだった……。 社会からこぼれ落ちてしまった人々の起こす事件と、その背景にある人間ドラマを、医者と刑事がそれぞれの立場で向き合い、難事件を解き明かしていく新感覚バディドラマ。
