On their last night in the village, Nuannuan uses wildflowers to confess romantically to Lin Can. Lin Can finally reveals her deeply buried trauma: as a teenager, she was assaulted by her stepfather. Her mother condoned it for money and even took photos, leading Lin Can to attempt suicide before being taken away by her aunt-and losing contact with Nuannuan. Heartbroken, Nuannuan comforts her, and they confirm they are each other's only salvation. Their kiss, however, is secretly photographed from the shadows.
