This episode of Bits and Bytes 2 looks at databases, starting with MS Windows' Card File program and MS Works for Windows, before explaining the difference between free-form, flat file and relational databases; it also looks at two examples of relational systems — a video store database system, and an airline reservation system. The episode concludes with an introduction to Hypercard and a multimedia encyclopedia, and an explanation of the different hierarchies of memory, including cache memory and optical storage.
