Joseph Strickland

American filmmaker, author, and composer Joseph Strickland (born November 9, 1962) is most notable for his feature film debut, the multi-award-winning psychological thriller, "Dual Mania." Strickland also contributed to the film soundtrack as a co-composer on several tracks of the film score, as well as co-writing the heavy metal track, "Gett Out," with the film's casting director and his creative partner, Cat Ellington, to whom Strickland is also married. Although Strickland released the book, "The Making of Dual Mania: Filmmaking Chicago Style," in 2018—which he co-authored with Cat Ellington and B.J. Patterson—to correspond with the film's highly successful global film festival run at that time, "Dual Mania," a film in the making since 1992, had a limited theatrical release in July 2021. The film first premiered at the famed Trylon Cinema in Minneapolis before going on to a private premiere at the Gene Siskel Film Center in Strickland's hometown of Chicago in August of that same year. Strickland, the founder of Vital Vision Productions in 1985, has been active since that year, contributing his direction to a host of music videos for a slew of prominent Chicago-based blues artists. In the modern era, his creative credits also include his contributions to books in the famous Reviews by Cat Ellington series and a 2021 Instrumentals EP for "Dual Mania."
