У нее растет сын, с которым Люба, перед тем как покинуть Россию, решает совершить небольшое путешествие на свою маленькую Родину – в забытый богом провинциальный городок. Но это ностальгическое путешествие оборачивается большой трагедией. Сын главной героини исчезает в этом городе...

Before leaving for a permanent residence in Germany, famous opera Lyuba (Kseniya Rappoport) brings her son Andryusha (Roman Shmakov) to the Russian heartland to say goodbye to her native home. For her these places represent beautiful romanticism of Russian poetry. The son goes to see the exposition of the local Kremlin (fortification) and disappears. Lyuba first looks for her son, and then remains in the city and waits for her son to return. Gradually she becomes a different person. Opera singer Lyubov loses her son, voice, destiny and transforms into a coarse cleaner Lucy. And in this new person additional qualities appear.
Avant de quitter définitivement la Russie pour l'Allemagne, une célèbre cantatrice d'opéra, Liouba emmène son fils avec elle dans une petite ville (Iouriev-Polski) pour faire ses adieux à sa terre natale. Pour elle c'est un endroit romantique, tel que ceux décrits par les poètes russes. Le fils soumis aux caprices de sa mère visite l'exposition du kremlin local, puis disparaît.
