A young con artist arrives in a small Bengali town in the 1950s, posing as an archaeologist. He charms his way into the home of a wealthy zamindar and falls for his daughter. But when his true identity is exposed, he flees. A year later, fate brings them together again in a snowy hill station, where she is battling a terminal illness, and he must choose between escape and redemption.
